Bay Access
is a non-profit organization established by a group of kayakers who were worried about the diminishing number of access sites around the bay where car-topped boats can gain access to the water and safely park while they are paddling. The mission of Bay Access is to protect and increase access to the waters of the San Francisco Bay for small boats by creating a water trail according to the principles of the North American Water Trails (NAWT). The San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail will serve the needs of all non-motorized small boat users and focus attention on environmental awareness, stewardship and the low impact recreational opportunities of the Bay Area's largest open space - the San Francisco Bay.
